The Squeakiest Beach
Our very enthusiastic campground host in Mobile, AL suggested that we take a trip to Dauphin Island while here.
That's just what we did - today in fact.
The beaches are dog friendly so with Phoebe in tow, we hopped in the truck and took the 40 minute drive to spend a little time with our feet in the sand.
The weather was mostly cloudy and about 60 degrees. It was glorious.
The parking lot was virtually empty but we didn't care. We were excited to stir our stumps (as Aunt Cardie would say). Half way to the beach, we heard a weird noise.
"What's that sound?" my mom asked.
We all stopped and then Phoebe got a wild hair and streaked across the sand. While frolicking around, we heard this strange squeaking noise under her feet. We started walking again and we heard the same noise too. It was the most bizarre thing. Have you ever experienced squeaky sand? Only in certain spots did we hear it. I think Phoebe thought it was freaky too.
Outside of our squeaky sand phenomenon, we had a great time walking along the beach. The sand was a lovely white and the wind made a wave effect on the ground. We just might have to head there one more time before leaving for Panama City early next week.
