A Few Things
There are some funny, crazy, weird and obscure things that happen to us while on the road that are just a few sentences worth of writing and not really entire posts. Meet "A Few Things".
1. We met our first cockroach. Oh yeah. You read that right. As we were watching TV, I saw this dark thing scurry across the floor towards Phoebe's bed. I barely got the words out to my mom when she handed me Phoebe, turned on the lights and exterminated said bug. Sorry, but it had to happen. We kept looking over our shoulder for a few days after.
2. We crossed Lake Pontchartrain, the Mississippi River and the Henderson Swamp this past week. The first two were mesmerizing and the swamp, well we've seen quite a few swamps while driving through the south and this one trumped them all. Picture dark muddy water, tree stumps protruding from the water and moss - lots of moss and creepy vegetation.
3. Phoebe had to take a quick trip to the vet while we were in Sulphur, LA to get her lymph nodes checked - they were a little swollen. After getting a good bill of health by the vet, she needed a little anal gland check before heading home. We are used to this - Phoebe has a bit of a rear end issue that needs tending to every once in awhile. BUT, after the big squeeze the vet pulled out a can that looked like hairspray and shot it at her rear end. Oh, just a little perfume for her butt, they said. Wow, okay. Now we've seen everything.
