Whidbey Island Adventure
Sunny days galore on Whidbey Island so on Saturday we packed a lunch and took Phoebe on a hike about 5 minutes from our campground.
We pulled into the parking lot and found that the park was crawling with a scout group and it was going to be near impossible to find a space. It looked absolutely beautiful though so we hoped that maybe a few days later it would be less crowded.
I suggested we head into Oak Harbor and take a walk around the town. We pulled over to look up directions and my mom found a dog beach about 45 minutes from us.
We turned up the music, munched on our PB&Js and zoomed over to the beach.
When we were in San Diego, I wrote a post about Phoebe having a ball at a local dog beach. I didn't take pictures because I wanted to soak in the memories of her running wild and free sans leash.
This time though, I took pictures to document it and you'll find her acting just like she did when she was in San Diego. There are quite a few photos, maybe too many but it was very hard to choose which ones to cut. You may scroll quickly through them if you get bored by our obsession of her. Ha!
We were having a blast until we (and by we I mean my mom and I) started sinking up to our knees in sand. When we were able to get one foot out, the other one would sink quickly down. Phoebe was over sniffing rocks and socializing with some dogs. Meanwhile, our hearts are beating out of pure exhaustion from trying to get unstuck from this quick sand. We finally found solid ground and caught our breath. Phoebe sauntered over and looked at us like we were nuts.
We ran into another patch of this lovely, leg sucking sand and this time we were faster to process. We sprinted across the sand and once the ground felt firm, we stopped to catch our breath. We must have looked like idiots.
On our way back, we swung past Deception Pass Bridge to take some pictures and marvel at the gorgeous view. Those photos are past the Phoebe beach time romp.
We went back to our original hike today so I'll post those pictures soon!
