Bainbridge Island

Bainbridge Island

A quick drive over the Agate Pass Bridge from Poulsbo and we landed on Bainbridge Island.

Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge High School - yes you bet we can!

Oh my word I've been singing that cheer since my mom and aunt taught me back when I was a little girl. Story, after story, after story and I finally got to lay eyes on the places I've heard about for years.

I saw the house my mom snuck out of as a teen. Oh yeah! After all this time picturing what I thought the house looked like, I actually got to see the room where her mom tapped her toe menacingly, waiting for my mom to return from her night out. The house was so gorgeous - I have no idea why anybody would want to sneak out (ha-ha). The front of the house was barely visible from the street but once you made your way around to the back road, the magnificent backyard drew your eye up to the house that had an amazing view of Port Madison.

I also got a sneak peek of the side yard where my mom kept her horse, Reveille. In order to get some good exercise, she rode him through the neighborhood to a trail nearby. I bet you can guess where my horse dreams came from.

After taking a driving tour to other special places, we took Phoebe over to a local dog park to let her run around.

And of course, we couldn't leave without seeing my mom and aunt's high school. After singing the jingle I had to lay eyes on the famous high school. It was surreal. Gorgeous, big and of course ever so slightly different from what my mom remembered.

Oh and we did take a quick trip to the local bookstore. Well Phoebe and my mom waited for me in the truck and I ran in to take a quick spin. I just couldn't help myself. I usually don't walk out with a book but this time I came away with TWO!

The photos below are from a short stop through a small campground on the island.
