A Quintessential PNW Day
My plan as of right now is to blog Mondays and Thursdays, to keep everything consistent and on more of a schedule. So you, our lovely reader, know when to hop on to get an update.
We are still in Seattle but will be heading out March 4th to Oregon/California for a few months until we work our way back north to spend a good portion of the summer in Alaska! Don’t tell us about the hideous mosquitos - we already know - ugh! Fortunately for my mom and Phoebe, I seem to have a neon sign over my head saying “BITE ME” - so they should be spared.
The photos below are from a park near the Mukilteo Ferry. We discovered it before the unusual snow storm that kept us inside for a little over a week. As soon as it was drivable, we made our way over to the park to walk off our cabin fever.
Grey skies, rain jackets and cozy people in Ivar’s eating fish and chips waiting for the ferry. Can it get any more Pacific North West than that? Oh yeah, a little rain. As we finished up our walk it started to drizzle and that capped our quintessential PNW day.
As I write this, we are gearing up for an hour drive north tomorrow to get Thelma in for some work. Her roof needs some freshening, the bathroom fan replaced and a check up on the bedroom heating unit. When this post is published, we will be on our way to dropping her off and then exploring the surrounding area. While it isn’t ideal, we are kinda giddy about jumping on our hotel bed and having a yummy meal out.
PSA on passport photos - check how you look before you get your picture taken. I know this sounds obvious but our drug store photographer had zero personality and seemed slightly annoyed by our presence. We jumped in front of the white screen and heard that he took a couple of photos. Great! We’ll get options…right? RIGHT? No. I look like I had a 4 ton beret on the side of my head and my hair is pressed flat to my head. Awesome. My mom, while she had a much better hair situation, looks like she has just had her pictures taken for her entry into prison and appears slightly perturbed…and maybe startled. Lovely. Can’t wait for our next passport renew date. We are educated now - glamour shot passport photos next time around.
