Cannon Beach, OR

On my Aunt Cardie’s top five places to visit, Cannon Beach definitely made the list. She would often take a weekend trip every few months with her best friend from college to snuggle in the friend’s beach house, walk up and down the beach, stare at Haystack Rock, tuck into a delicious bowl of Mo’s clam chowder and spin around the outlets before heading back to Portland.

We found an RV park about 5 minutes from town (and the beach!) and have spent almost every day enjoying the Pacific Ocean. But my guess is nobody loved it more than Phoebe. Hence four pictures down. My mom and I laughed uncontrollably as she sprinted up and down the beach with the most overwhelming excitement. She is a digger by nature but rarely does so. At the beach though, she was creating holes that could have easily been a tripping hazard. She had the most fun.

Strolling through two local book stores was my second favorite thing to do after walking on the beach. I came away with two books and two pairs of profane socks (yes, profane).

We also enjoyed a few days with our close family friends (one of them happens to be the best friend I mentioned earlier in this post). They treated us to a scrumptious dinner at Mo’s and I have been dreaming about my beer battered fish and chips ever since.

Soon we will be off to another Oregon coast destination - stay tuned!
