As I type this, my mom has (finally!) gotten the opportunity to help a fellow camper. She peers out the window hoping that she’ll spot someone that can use her expertise. She’ll often say, “Do you think they need our help?” My socially anxious heart stops every time I hear this but we do enjoy offering a helping hand because we’ve so often received it when we needed it. A hose fixture, sewer training and a swap of life stories later, my mom is as giddy as a kid on Christmas. She came in saying, “Did you see I fixed his problem?!” Go mom!
I actually do have a few Bend photographs - hooray. We spent a week there and most days were pretty rainy. We took a quick jaunt around downtown Bend but I think our favorite spot was taking a 30 minute drive to Sisters, just outside of Bend. We went twice. Mostly for the overwhelmingly delicious spinach and feta scones. We also tried Sisters Bakery cinnamon bread, a cupcake and a donut but the resounding winner was that dang scone. I may do some research and see if I can find a recipe that gets somewhere close.
The other outstanding thing about Bend was our gorgeous campground. It felt almost like a small neighborhood. Each RV spot had a spacious 50 feet on each side of their sites. Right now, in Vancouver BC, we have maybe 4 feet on each side of our spot. It was fun to experience wide open sites in Bend, they are certainly not common.
Stay tuned for more stories from Canada - we made it!
